Winter Weather tips from the Perryville Fire Department

(KBSI) – The Perryville Fire Department is sharing safety tips to prepare your home for winter.

The primary concerns when it comes to winter is losing power, heat, phone service, and a shortage of supplies if a winter storm lasts for very long.

It’s good to keep a supply checklist on hand.

Things you should keep on hand are things such as

  • Clothes and blankets
  • Battery Powered NOAA Weather Radio and portable radio to receive emergency information
  • Food and Water, that doesn’t need to be cooked
  • First Aid Supplies, Extra Medicine,
  • Heating Fuel
  • Emergency Heat Source

Indoor Winter Tips

  • Keep extra heat sources
  • Such as portable generator and backup heat source
  • Allow faucets to drip
  • If you run out of heat, you should wear heavy loose clothing.
