Woman arrested after death of 1 year old, severe injury of 2 year old

FAIRFIELD, Ill. (KBSI) – A Fairfield woman faces involuntary manslaughter and other charges in connection with the death of a 1-year-old boy and severe injury of a 2-year-old boy.

Adreian D.A. Hooper, 36, of Fairfield faces charges of involuntary manslaughter (Class 2 felony), endangering the life of a child – death (Class 3 felony), reckless conduct (Class 4 felony) and endangering the life of a child (Class A misdemeanor).

The Fairfield Police Department requested Illinois State Police on July 14 to assist in the death investigation of a 1-year-old boy and the severe injury of another 2-year-old boy.

Both children were reported to have been left in a vehicle for multiple hours.

The Child Death Investigative Task Force was activated.

The Wayne County State’s Attorney’s Office charged Hooper on July 16.

She is being held at the Wayne County Jail.
