Frost, Freeze Alerts in Place Through the Weekend
Weather Headlines:
Our first freeze looks to be on the way this weekend for the majority of the viewing area. A Freeze Warning is in place until 8:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 6, for the western half of the viewing area. Eastern portions of the viewing area will be under a Frost Advisory through Saturday morning.
- Cover or move any sensitive vegetation before the overnight hours.
- Check to make sure any outdoor plumbing or hoses have been adequately prepared for sub-freezing temperatures.
If we do not see our first freeze Saturday morning, we most likely will by Sunday morning. A Freeze Warning will go into effect at 11 p.m. on Saturday and expire at 8:00 a.m. on Sunday, November 8.
The latest run of StormCast keeps skies clear overnight, with a few passing clouds possible through Saturday afternoon. The upcoming weekend will be quiet in terms of rain chances.
Forecast:
Most of us will see a chilly start to the weekend, with air temperatures down to the lower and middle 30s on Saturday morning.
Clear skies in Cape Girardeau will help us cool down during the overnight hours. Patchy areas of frost are possible for any early Saturday morning plans.
Below-average temperatures will continue on Saturday afternoon. Highs are expected to reach the middle 50s with a light northerly wind.
A few upper-level clouds will pass through Cape on Saturday; other than that, we should see sunny skies with mild temperatures for early November.
After some of our coolest temperatures of the fall season on Sunday morning, pleasant fall weather will return by the afternoon.
Sunshine continues to pour in through the start of the work week. High temperatures briefly return to the middle and upper 60s before another disturbance moves through late in the week. Precipitation chances remain quiet outside of a small chance for a few sprinkles on Wednesday evening.
