Community Event Provides Fun And Safety Education In Jackson

JACKSON, Mo. (KBSI) – First responders from Jackson Fire Rescue and surrounding areas came together for a day of fun and education, offering safety lessons to the community of Jackson.

Led by Jackson Fire Captain Michael Gentry, the event aimed to promote safety awareness and educate the public on various aspects of emergency preparedness.

“It’s always in our minds to teach others about safety education. This is one big event where we bring everybody together, including hands-on CPR training, fire safety demonstrations, and various community organizations collaborating to educate the public,” said Captain Gentry.

The free event featured the participation of over 17 organizations dedicated to providing safety education.

Alongside engaging activities such as food trucks and face painting, attendees had the opportunity to witness an air evacuation landing and experience a crash simulator courtesy of the Highway Patrol.

For Kirstina Abercrombie, the event was not only enjoyable but also offered a chance for children to learn something new.

“All the things that we have in our area and to know that the children can enjoy it and to learn about things about things they may not learn during the school year,” she shared.

Beyond its immediate benefits, the event served as an opportunity for community members to engage with first responders and gain insights into the crucial work they do.

By instilling safety knowledge and sparking the curiosity of future generations, the event played a role in fostering a safer and more informed community.
