Paducah man faces attempted murder for September shooting

PADUCAH, Ky. (KBSI) – A Paducah man faces attempted murder and other charges after police arrested him in connection with a September shootinng at an apartment complex.

Jeremy Woods, 36, of South 7th Street, was arrested Friday, November 17 on a warrant charging him with attempted murder and three counts of first-degree wanton endangerment, and on charges of first-degree fleeing or evading police (vehicle), second-degree fleeing or evading police (on foot), first-degree wanton endangerment, five counts of disregarding a stop sign, having no registration and driving with a suspended/revoked operator’s license.

Police have been searching for Woods since the September 12 incident, in which police say he fired several shots at another man.

Detectives received information he was at a motel downtown and set up surveillance. When Woods left the motel in a vehicle, officers tried to stop him but say he fled.

Officers chased him for several blocks before his vehicle hit a curb and a utility pole at 12th and Fern streets. Then, police say he ran away on foot.

He was arrested a block away by the police department’s K9, Don.

Woods was taken to Baptist Health Paducah for treatment of a dog bite.

He will be booked into McCracken County Regional Jail.

Another man, Joseph Robinson, 29, of South 25th Street, is charged in a warrant with attempted murder and three counts of first-degree wanton endangerment.

Just after 11:30 p.m. Tuesday, September 12 Paducah police officers responded to a “shots fired” call in the area of Elmwood Court. They were told Woods and Robinson had gotten into an argument, and that Woods fired shots at Robinson inside an apartment.

Police say Robinson returned fire, and Woods ran out the back door.

Robinson also left the apartment, firing shots at Woods and a 14-year-old juvenile who had just left the apartment, according to police.

Police say there were a 10-year-old and an 11-year-old in the apartment when the shots were fired.

No one was injured.

Woods and Robinson left the scene on September 12 before investigators arrived.
