AT&T program gives more than 100 free laptops to students

POPLAR BLUFF, Mo. (KBSI) – Students in the Poplar Bluff school district received free laptops.

Mary Von-Humphry stopped by to get a laptop.

“My grandson goes to Boys and Girls Club here and he received a free laptop today that he did not have at home so I’m glad for that and I’m glad for the program that sponsored this,” said Von-Humphry.

That program is the AT&T connected learning initiative. AT&T and Compudopt teamed up with Boys and Girls club of the heartland to help address the digital need through internet accessibility. Jeremy Ketterer is the regional director for AT&T.

Well our motivation behind this is to help bridge the digital divide because we feel that it is critical to long-term success for our communities and our country to have access to technology, said Ketterer.

One hundred sixty-eight laptops were handed out to families that needed them.

Members of the Boys and Girls Club talk about how the program helps the community.

Thanks to ATT and Compudopt they brought this to us and their helping with this huge need in our community and their helping a lot of kids they dont even know their lives have been touched greatly with this.
