Jackson Street Hockey hosts first tournament, raising money for roller hockey rink
JACKSON, Mo. (KBSI) – Brock Compton, Jonathan Rosenquist, and the rest of Jackson Street Hockey’s first tournament was an overwhelming success.
“We’ve been wanting to do a tournament for a long time, something just to celebrate how we’ve grown, how we’ve grown this project, and this group,” Compton said.
“I’m proud of how it turned out. I’m happy that everyone showed up, and I’m proud of what we’ve done. It’s really cool,” Rosenquist said.
Rosenquist and the others may soon be even more proud, as they are raising money to build a roller hockey rink.
“I’ve been working a lot with companies, and I have the list of people we’re going to talk to, but I’m really excited,” Rosenquist said. “It’ll be really cool if it actually happens.”
Both Compton and Rosenquist are optimistic about the probability of it actually happening.
“If we can get the funds, I think we’re good to go. There comes the hard part, but this is a resilient group,” Compton said. “It can happen. It has a serious chance.”
“I’ve always been motivated and committed to the sport, but it’s nice to put that somewhere other than just showing up to every game and helping get sticks,” Rosenquist said. “It’s cool to expand it and hopefully expand the sport.”
Which has been their mission all along, and if and when this rink gets built.
“I can’t even think, just being able to just have something that is there, that is ours, that we built from the ground up, there might not be a better feeling,” Compton said. “We are all very proud of what we have here. We would be overjoyed.”
