Saint Francis Healthcare, Advanced Dermatology offering free skin cancer screenings
CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KBSI) – Saint Francis Healthcare System is partnering with Advanced Dermatology to offer free skin cancer screenings to the community.
“So by far skin cancer is the most common form of skin cancer in the United States and I think because there isn’t a recommendation on screenings sometimes those spots go unnoticed,” said Liz Glastetter, director of Cancer Services at Saint Francis Healthcare System. “And so we want people to be aware of their own skin but just to get a check they go in your head or the rest of your body and you’re not able to find those.”
Glastetter says if you have a freckle or a mole or just an odd spot that itches or bleeds you should get it checked out. She says even if you don’t have a spot you are concerned about to still get checked because prevention saves lives especially when it comes to cancer.
