True Crime Club Conference held in Cape Girardeau
CAPE GIRARDEAU Mo. (KBSI) – Crime enthusiasts gathered at the True Crime Club conference at the Drury Plaza to dive in the world of criminal investigations on April 20.
Guests were given the chance to observe the darkest corners of the criminal mind thanks to True Crime Club Conference Laura Ritter.
Ritter has always been motivated by crime investigations, whether it’s to figure them out, or get the word out to communities. “I want to keep a missing person’s story out there. Like earlier today, we had missing Betty Alexander. She’s been missing for five years. We need to keep her picture out there, her story out there and try to get her found.” Said Ritter.
Included in the conference was guest speaker Betty Frizzell, who is an author and career law enforcement officer. During last year’s True Crime conference, she discussed a murder case involving her sister Victoria Smith in Poplar Bluff. This year, she was accompanied by guests with similar stories.
Frizzell said, “I followed what Connie went through and her story had to be told.”
Joining Betty this year was Connie Goodwin. According to Connie, her son, Edward Goodwin was murdered by two former friends in 2015, and his body was found his body was found in Poplar Bluff two years later.
“I come here today to let everyone know about my son Edward Goodwin and his case. To get his name out there and his story out there. It needs to be told.” Said Goodwin.
The next True Crime Conference will be held in Kansas City, and will return to Cape Girardeau next year, with more mysteries brought to light.
