PADUCAH, Ky. (KBSI) – A Paducah woman and her boyfriend face child abuse charges after police say a toddler is hospitalized with a fractured skull.

Willow K. Devasier, 22, of Walter Jetton Boulevard faces a charge of first-degree criminal abuse (child 12 or under).

Maalik S. Rush, 24, of Walter Jetton Boulevard, faces a charge of first-degree criminal abuse (child 12 or under).

Devasier’s toddler remained hospitalized on April 30 after police say she was brought to a local hospital with bruises all over her body and a fractured skull.

Paducah police were called about 4 p.m. Sunday, April 28 after the 2-year-old was brought to the hospital by her mother, Willow K. Devasier, and her boyfriend, Maalik S. Rush.

The child was treated for a fractured skull and a brain bleed. She was flown to an out-of-state hospital for more advanced care.

Police say Rush told detectives that the child had fallen in the bathtub and hit her head on the bathtub faucet. He and Devasier told police the bruises were sustained when the child fell other times.

Medical professionals advised detectives that the injuries were not consistent with the story told by Rush and Devasier.

Rush and Devasier were interviewed by detectives Tuesday morning and arrested on charges of first-degree criminal abuse (child 12 or under).

They were booked into McCracken County Regional Jail.
