1 arrested, police looking for juvenile after 1 injured in shooting

MOUNT VERNON, Ill. (KBSI) – One man was arrested and police are looking for a juvenile after one person was injured in a shooting Tuesday evening.

Mount Vernon police say officers responded to Crossroads hospital for a report of a shooting victim at 2:40 p.m. on June 18.

Officers responded to the crime scene of the shooting in an alley in the 2000 block of Logan Street.

A man had non-life-threatening injuries.

Police identified two suspects with the assistance of witnesses and surveillance video.

A patrol officer saw one of the suspect, Gabriel Ellinger, 18, fom Mt. Vernon, at 17th and Broadway at 3:18 p.m. He was arrested.

Police are seeking one male juvenile suspect.

Ellinger faces charges of aggravated battery with a firearm and possession of a controlled substance.

The Mount Vernon Police Department was assisted by the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office.

This is an ongoing investigation.
