Hurricane Francine carrying into the Midwest

CAPE GIRARDEAU Mo. (KBSI) – Hurricane Francine is forming along the Gulf of Mexico that is leaving little time for locals in Louisiana to prepare.
Gavin Istre and his family currently live in Covington Louisiana about ten miles from the lake. They have only been living in this house for a year but there are features to help with extreme weather.
“I’m really hoping this one doesn’t stall. I’m not too worried because its cat one low cat two and I have enough defenses to deal with it but if this were a five and the eyewall was hitting us, I’m gone.”
Hurricane Francine are even causing problems here in the Midwest near the Mississippi.
Pete Poe is the SEMO District Fair Board Director.
While the weather has been fortunate for fair goers so far, he doesn’t plan on shutting anything down but is keeping an eye on Thursday and Friday.
“We will probably shut the gates but as far as shutting down the fair we won’t do that because we have people here that are living on the campgrounds during the course of the fair so they’re going to be here doing things. With the trees we have a big wind break so most of the pop-up tents you’re talking about won’t be affected all that much.”
The board members get together every night to make sure the fair is running smoothly and will make decisions they feel is best to keep the public safe and dry.
“We have a concert tomorrow evening, and we will make a decision at 8 o clock in the morning about what we are going to do about that concert. On Friday we have a tractor pull at the grandstands and we will make a decision tomorrow night about what will happen there. “
