Cape Girardeau County Rotary Club Completes Walking Trail Enhancements

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KBSI) – The Cape Girardeau County Rotary Club unveiled their completed trail enhancements by the Brink Avenue trailhead for the Cape LaCroix Recreation Trail.
The Cape LaCroix Recreation Trail opens up a path for anyone looking to spend time walking, running, cycling, rollerblading, and other forms of non-motorized travel throughout Cape Girardeau on a paved surface.
The trail provides a peaceful paved surface for anyone to travel from Shawnee Park through the City of Cape Girardeau to Osage Park and beyond.
The Cape Girardeau County Rotary approached the Parks and Recreation Department in Cape Girardeau in the Spring of 2024 about an idea to improve the trail access at Brink Avenue for the general public.
The Rotary club, with the help from the Cape Girardeau Parks and Recreation Department, removed the fencerow of bushes, trees, and tangled wire fencing beside and sometimes covering the trail.
The Rotary club installed a new fence to separate the walking trail from private property housing beside the trail. The new fence row creates a welcoming path for the public.
