6-year-old boy injured in Scott County after accident, parents update on condition
SCOTT CITY, Mo., (KBSI) — A student was injured in a bus stop accident Monday on Highway 61, prompting a response from multiple emergency agencies.
UPDATE: Gaspard’s parents say, “He is doing much better, we were just discharged (Jan. 16th, 2025) from the hospital.”
The parents of six-year-old, Bryson Gaspard, Josh and Becky, released this statement, “We have three other children, they all witnessed what happened to their brother, and are scared. We want justice but also want to bring awareness.”
Gaspard’s mother shared, “My heart is broken as I sit here knowing there is nothing, I can do to make his pain go away.”
The incident occurred at approximately 3:25 p.m. The Scott County Sheriff’s Department, Morley Police Department, Scott County Rural Fire Department, South Scott County Ambulance Service, Air Evac and the Missouri State Highway Patrol all responded to the scene.
The injured student was transported for medical attention, while other students were safely taken home. The Missouri State Highway Patrol will conduct a thorough investigation.
The Scott County Central School District will provide counseling and support services for students and staff in the coming days. The district requests privacy for those affected and encourages anyone needing support to reach out to district administrators.
