Marion man arrested on Methamphetamine charge after traffic stop

MARION, Ill., (KBSI) — A traffic stop in Marion led to the arrest of a driver who had an outstanding warrant and was found with methamphetamine, authorities said.

Williamson County Sheriff’s Office deputies stopped a vehicle driven by William A. Reed on Cherry Street on Jan. 10 after observing a traffic violation, according to a news release.

Reed’s driving privileges were suspended, and he had an outstanding warrant from Franklin County, deputies said. He refused to exit the vehicle and was assisted out by deputies.

A white crystal-like substance found in an open container in the driver’s seat tested positive for methamphetamine, authorities said.

Reed was cited for possession of methamphetamine, driving while his license was suspended and failure to signal. He was taken to the Williamson County Jail.

The Williamson County Sheriff’s Office asks anyone with information about this or other investigations to contact them at 618-997-6541 or submit a tip through the sheriff’s app.
