Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office uncovers contraband in jail, vows transparency and action

WAYNESVILLE, Mo., (KBSI) — The Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office and Waynesville Police Department conducted joint narcotics K9 training last week, strengthening their partnership in combating narcotics.
The training showcased the capabilities of K9 teams, including Deputy Humphrey and K9 Stitch from the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office, and Officer Geiger and K9 Aero from the Waynesville Police Department.
The K9 teams were deployed on Sunday for a shakedown at the Pulaski County Jail, where they uncovered suspected narcotics.
A detainee was later hospitalized after admitting to ingesting a baggie of fentanyl mixed with methamphetamine.
Sheriff Stacy L. Ball praised the alert detention officers who initiated the search, saying their swift action potentially saved lives.
Ball vowed to conduct a thorough investigation into how the contraband entered the jail and to implement new tactics to prevent similar incidents.
“I will be transparent as your Sheriff, and we will find out the ‘how’ and implement procedures to prevent this from happening again,” Ball said.
