McCracken County man arrested after vehicle crash
MCCRACKEN COUNTY, Ky., (KBSI) – A 32-year-old Paducah man was arrested after a vehicle crash on Monday, April 14, 2025. Cody Draffen was taken into custody after a maroon passenger car he was driving crashed and flipped upside down near Clark Line Road and Old Mayfield Road.
Deputies with the McCracken County Sheriff’s Office responded to reports of a reckless driver around 7:30 p.m. in the area of Clark Line Road and Houser Road.
A deputy located the vehicle and measured its speed at 25 mph over the limit.
After losing sight of the vehicle, deputies received calls about a maroon car that had crashed.
Charges
Draffen faces multiple charges, including:
- Driving on a DUI-Suspended License (3rd or Greater Offense).
- Operating a Motor Vehicle Under the Influence of Alcohol (4th or Greater Offense).
- Reckless Driving.
- Speeding 25 MPH Over the Limit.
- Leaving the Scene of an Accident.
Under Kentucky law, drivers with repeated DUI offenses or those driving with a suspended license may qualify for felony charges.
If convicted of a fourth or greater offense of operating a motor vehicle under the influence, Draffen could face a license suspension of 60 months and be required to complete a year-long alcohol or substance abuse treatment program.
The McCracken County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Hendron Fire Department, Mercy Regional EMS, and Randy’s Towing.
Draffen was treated for non-incapacitating injuries at a local hospital before being lodged at the McCracken County Jail.
