Governor Pritzker visits Southern Illinois for economic development events

MARION, Ill., (KBSI) — Gov. J.B. Pritzker is scheduled to attend two events in southern Illinois Thursday.

Pritzker will participate in a 2:30 p.m. groundbreaking ceremony at the former Illinois Centre Mall in Marion for a $150 million project to create an indoor fieldhouse and renovate the mall.

The project, expected to be completed by summer 2026, aims to establish a recreation destination.

Later, Pritzker will attend a 4 p.m. ribbon-cutting ceremony in Makanda for a new enclosed arena at Giant City Stables, which will facilitate therapeutic horseback riding programs.
