Jackson County Sheriff’s Office to boost traffic enforcement for fourth of July
JACKSON COUNTY, Ill., (KBSI) — The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office will increase traffic enforcement from June 20 to July 7, focusing on impaired and unbuckled drivers.
The effort is part of a statewide campaign that includes the Illinois State Police and over 200 local law enforcement agencies.
Authorities urge residents and visitors to celebrate Independence Day safely by designating sober drivers and buckling up.
Tips for safe celebration include:
Designating a sober driver and handing over keys before going out.
Calling a taxi, using public transit, or a ride-sharing service if impaired.
Reporting impaired drivers to law enforcement by pulling over and dialing 911.
Ensuring all vehicle occupants wear seatbelts.
The enforcement campaign is funded by federal traffic safety funds administered by the Illinois Department of Transportation.
