Perryville High School to use temporary classrooms following tornado damage

PERRYVILLE, Mo., (KBSI) — The District 32 Board of Education has approved the use of temporary classrooms at Perryville High School, which was damaged in a March 14 tornado.

The board contracted with Flex TC to provide the temporary facilities, which will include classrooms, science labs, and administrative offices.

Superintendent Dr. Fara Jones said the temporary buildings will provide a safe and modern learning environment for students while repairs are made to the high school.

The temporary structures will be erected on the PHS gravel lot, which will be paved, and other nearby locations.

The district expects to have the temporary classrooms operational by Aug. 20, when school is scheduled to start.

In addition to the temporary classrooms, the board also awarded bids for turf replacement at the football fields, window replacement at the Old Senior High School, and roof replacement at several district buildings.

Dr. Jones expressed gratitude for the community’s support during the recovery process, saying, “After a lot of work behind the scenes, we are excited to enter the stage of visible progress in the recovery efforts.”
