Paducah riverfront transformation underway with new excursion pier construction
PADUCAH, Ky., (KBSI) — Construction of a new riverboat excursion pier is underway in Paducah, marking a significant milestone in the city’s Riverfront Infrastructure Improvement Project.
The project, funded by a $10.4 million BUILD grant and $3.5 million in state funds, aims to enhance the city’s riverfront and improve accessibility for riverboat passengers.
Crews have begun driving sheet piles and mooring supports along the riverbank, a laborious and noisy process expected to last three months. The pier will be over 500 feet long and 20 feet wide, featuring seating, handrails and a grand staircase connecting to the floodwall.
The project also includes intersection improvements, new bus shelters and enhancements to the transient dock area. Substantial completion is expected by June 2026.
Mayor George Bray said the project will transform the city’s riverfront but asked for patience due to the noisy construction process.
