Conservation crew monitors stream health in Southeast Missouri
POPLAR BLUFF, Mo., (KBSI) — The Southeast Resource, Assessment, and Monitoring (RAM) crew has been busy assessing the health of streams in the region this summer.
The RAM Program monitors warm-water, wadable streams to evaluate fish populations, aquatic macroinvertebrates, water quality, and physical habitat.
Recent surveys in the Poplar Bluff area have yielded valuable data on fish species, habitat types, locations, and numbers, which help tell the story of the stream’s overall health.
The Missouri Department of Conservation’s RAM crew, including Fisheries Technician D’Arcy George, have been documenting their findings through photographs and field notes.
