1 injured in Calloway County community structure fire

STELLA, Ky., (KBSI) — A man was seriously injured Saturday night in a structure fire on Highway 121 North in the Stella community, according to Calloway County Fire-Rescue.

The Calloway County 911 Communications Center dispatched crews to the 4800 block of Highway 121 around 9 p.m. after callers reported a shop fully engulfed in flames. When firefighters arrived, they found the structure — which also served as the homeowner’s residence — on fire. The man had exited the building but had sustained burn injuries, officials said.

Murray-Calloway County EMS treated the victim before transporting him to Murray-Calloway County Hospital. He was later airlifted to a specialized burn unit. His condition was not immediately available.

Crews worked for about three hours to extinguish the fire, responding with two pumpers, six tanker trucks, three support vehicles and a command vehicle. A total of 29 firefighters were on scene. The structure was declared uninhabitable, and the American Red Cross was contacted to assist the homeowner once he is released from the hospital.

The Calloway County Sheriff’s Office assisted with traffic control. Fire officials thanked their members for quick action in containing the blaze and preventing it from spreading to nearby structures.
