Increasing Clouds Friday, Late Storm Chances into Saturday
Forecast:
Partly sunny and temperatures near-average on Friday ahead of an incoming cold front. Increasing clouds this afternoon will lead to highs today in the lower and middle 80s.
Stormcast shows the best chances of seeing showers and thunderstorms for the Cape Girardeau area will be late Friday into early Saturday morning. Stronger storms are expected to stay off to the southeast, although a stronger storm in our area is still possible.
The Storm Prediction Center has our southeastern counties under a MARGINAL RISK (Level 1 out of 5) for severe weather this evening. There is a small chance for quarter-size hail and 60-mile-per-hour wind gusts.
Low temperatures across the heartland will fall into the lower, middle, and potentially upper 50s across our viewing area. Mostly cloudy this evening and isolated storm chances during the overnight hours.
A cooler day to start the weekend on Saturday with high temperatures in the mid and upper 70s. Winds remain out of the north with partly cloudy skies.
In Cape, morning cloud cover will make way for partly sunny skies in the afternoon. Temperatures will remain cooler in the upper 70s with a northerly breeze.
Drier conditions behind the cold front will drop dew points this weekend and into early next week.
Temperatures will climb into the lower 80s for the start of next week, before climbing into the upper 80s for the middle of the week. Mostly sunny skies are expected through next week, although high temperatures could brush the 90-degree mark by Thursday.
