MURPHYSBORO, Ill., (KBSI) — To celebrate National Cooperative Month, Egyptian Electric Cooperative Association is launching its first Halloween Art Contest for children 12 and under who live in or attend school within the cooperative’s service area in southwestern Illinois.
“We want kids to get creative while learning a little about energy and cooperatives,” said Shane Hermetz. “Artwork could show a vampire unplugging energy-draining appliances, a haunted house with solar panels, or anything else their imagination can dream up.”
Eligibility: Open to ages 12 and under residing in or attending public or private schools within EECA’s territory, including the Carbondale, Carterville, Chester, Coulterville, Du Quoin, Elverado, Marissa, Murphysboro, Pinckneyville, Red Bud, Sparta, Steeleville and Trico districts. Participants do not have to be dependents of EECA consumer-members.
Theme: Spooky, silly or magical artwork tied to energy, saving energy or the cooperative model (EECA-specific or general co-op concepts).
How to enter:
Create a Halloween-themed picture about energy, energy savings or cooperatives.
Photograph the artwork.
Email the photo to info@eeca.coop
with “ART CONTEST” in the subject line. Include the child’s name, age, parent phone number, community or school, and a brief description of the artwork. (Entries may be shared on social media to promote the contest.)
Deadline: Entries due Tuesday, Oct. 28.
Prizes (by age group: 4–6, 7–9, 10–12):
First place: $50 gift card (with parental approval) — choice of AMC Theatres, Roblox or Nintendo.
