SIKESTON, Mo., (KBSI) — In response to recent news about cuts to SNAP benefits and a strong community turnout for Project Connect, First United Methodist Church in Sikeston announced it will double its usual SEMO Food Bank Mobile Pantry to meet growing needs.

The expanded event will take place Friday, Oct. 24, and will feature a wide range of free services and resources from local organizations and agencies. Church leaders are encouraging residents who may need extra support to attend and to share the information with others in the community.

Services and assistance available will include:

SEMO Food Bank – Mobile food pantry, SNAP, and Medicaid assistance

Bootheel Behavioral Health – Mental health services information

Missouri Delta Medical Center – Health screenings and information

St. Francis Medical Foundation Mobile Wellness Van – Mammograms, hygiene and paper products

Legal Services of SEMO – Free legal assistance

Missouri Veterans Commission – Veterans benefits information

University of Missouri Extension – Nutrition education and giveaways

Reflections Salon – Free haircuts provided by August and Abbigale

Mission Missouri, Gibson Center for Behavioral Change, DAEOC, and more – Outreach, recovery, education, and employment support

Other organizations will provide diapers, feminine hygiene products, transportation assistance, adult day services, and resources for children in foster care.

Organizers say the event aims to connect residents with essential services, reduce barriers to care, and offer immediate food assistance during a time of financial uncertainty.
