Cape Girardeau man convicted of child rape faces up to 90 years in prison

JACKSON, Mo., (KBSI) — A Cape Girardeau County jury has convicted a 44-year-old Cape Girardeau man of two counts of first-degree statutory rape and one count of first-degree statutory sodomy, Prosecuting Attorney Mark J. Welker announced Tuesday.

Brandon Demarcus Tipler was found guilty following a two-day trial before Circuit Judge Frank E. Miller. During the proceedings, Tipler was confronted by his two victims, who were 11 and 12 years old at the time of the offenses.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant Prosecuting Attorneys Tabatha Blakely and Stephen Killen. Tipler was represented by attorney Dwight Robbins. The Cape Girardeau Police Department conducted the investigation.

Tipler is scheduled to be sentenced on Dec. 23, 2025. He faces a maximum sentence of 90 years in the Missouri Department of Corrections.
