JEFFERSON CITY, Mo., (KBSI) – The Missouri State Highway Patrol’s Division of Drug and Crime Control has arrested and charged a Ste. Genevieve man following an investigation into multiple child sex crimes in St. Francois and Ste. Genevieve counties.
According to the Patrol, Brian L. Webb, 53, of Ste. Genevieve, was taken into custody after investigators from the DDCC Special Victims Unit received a CyberTip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children in October 2025. The tip indicated that an online user had uploaded a sexually explicit image identified as child pornography. Webb, a registered sex offender, was identified as the suspect.
On Nov. 20, 2025, DDCC investigators and Farmington police contacted Webb on Wallace Road in Farmington. Investigators conducted an interview and searched Webb’s cellphone, locating multiple images identified as child pornography, the Patrol said. Several social media applications were also found on the device that were not listed on Webb’s Missouri Sex Offender Registration Form.
Webb was arrested and taken to the St. Francois County Jail on an investigative hold.
On Nov. 21, the St. Francois County Prosecuting Attorney charged Webb with five counts of felony possession of child pornography. He is being held on a $150,000 bond.
The same day, the Ste. Genevieve County Prosecuting Attorney charged Webb with one count of promoting child pornography and two counts of failing to register as a sex offender, with an additional $100,000 bond issued on those charges.
The Patrol encourages anyone who encounters individuals engaging in unwanted, inappropriate or sexualized communication with children online to contact the Missouri State Highway Patrol or local law enforcement.
The Highway Patrol notes that the charges are accusations only and that all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
