MT. VERNON, Ill., (KBSI) – Mt. Vernon residents can now recycle leftover paint, stain and varnish through Illinois’ new PaintCare program, which offers free drop-off options for products kept in their original containers.
Local drop-off sites include:
- RP Lumber – Accepts paint, stain and varnish in original containers up to 5 gallons.
- Sherwin-Williams – Accepts paint, stain and varnish in original containers up to 5 gallons.
Both latex and oil-based products are eligible for recycling.
State officials say the program provides residents an opportunity to safely dispose of unused materials while reducing hazardous waste in landfills. More information is available at Site Locator | Find a PaintCare Drop-off Site.
