POPLAR BLUFF, Mo., (KBSI)— John’s Pharmacy will assume ownership and operation of the retail pharmacy at the Saint Francis Healthcare System Poplar Bluff Campus beginning Jan. 18, 2026, the company announced.

The pharmacy will remain at its current location, 225 Physicians Park, allowing patients to continue accessing services without interruption. Prescription records will be securely transferred, and no immediate action is required from patients, officials said.

John’s Pharmacy is a locally owned community pharmacy with more than 35 years of service in southeast Missouri and nine years serving Poplar Bluff. Company leaders said the transition reflects an ongoing commitment to expanding local health care access and investing in the community.

The announcement follows recent news that Missouri Highlands Health Care will acquire the Saint Francis Poplar Bluff campus. John’s Pharmacy and Missouri Highlands plan to work together during the transition to ensure continuity of care, with an emphasis on access, coordination and patient support.

“Strong partnerships are essential during times of change,” said Karen White, chief executive officer of Missouri Highlands Health Care. “As Missouri Highlands prepares to assume stewardship of the Poplar Bluff campus, we are committed to working alongside trusted community partners like John’s Pharmacy to ensure patients feel supported, informed and well cared for.”

Abe Funk, owner of John’s Pharmacy, said keeping the pharmacy in the same location was a priority.

“We love Poplar Bluff,” Funk said. “We are fully committed to continued investment in our staff and the patients who rely on this pharmacy every day.”

Patients can expect continued personalized care, safety and service standards, officials said. John’s Pharmacy plans ongoing investments in staff, technology and patient services to meet the community’s evolving needs.

“This transition represents a renewed commitment to local health care,” Funk said. “We are here for the long haul.”

Patients with questions are encouraged to speak with a pharmacy team member during their next visit.
