ZEIGLER, Ill., (KBSI) — A Franklin County sheriff’s deputy arrested a Zeigler man early Jan. 19 after a traffic stop led to the discovery of suspected methamphetamine, authorities said.
According to the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office, a deputy conducted a traffic stop at about 12:06 a.m. near the intersection of Illinois Route 148 and Illinois Route 149. The driver and sole occupant of the vehicle was identified as Ryan M. Davis, 43, of Zeigler.
During the stop, a K-9 unit was requested to assist. After arriving on scene, K-9 Caesar conducted a free-air sniff around the exterior of the vehicle and alerted, prompting a probable-cause search.
Authorities said the search led to the recovery of a substance that field-tested positive for methamphetamine.
Davis was taken into custody and transported to the Franklin County Jail. He was charged with traffic offenses and unlawful possession of methamphetamine, a Class 2 felony.
Authorities said Davis is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
