BOWLING GREEN, Ky., (KBSI) — Kentucky State Police Post 3 will participate in Operation C.A.R.E. on Super Bowl Sunday as part of a national effort to reduce crashes and prevent impaired driving.

The Crash Awareness and Reduction Effort will take place Sunday, Feb. 9, with troopers increasing patrols to address traffic violations such as impaired and distracted driving, speeding and failure to wear seat belts. The initiative is aimed at keeping roadways safe as residents travel to and from Super Bowl gatherings.

“We want everyone to enjoy the Super Bowl, but most importantly, we want everyone to make it home safely,” said KSP Post 3 Capt. Timothy Adams. He urged drivers to plan ahead, drive responsibly and remain aware of others on the road.

State police encouraged motorists to make a plan if alcohol will be involved, including using a designated driver, ride-share service or staying overnight. Troopers also reminded drivers to wear seat belts, avoid distractions such as mobile phones and move over or slow down for emergency vehicles as required by Kentucky law.

Anyone who observes a driver who appears impaired or is driving dangerously is encouraged to report it to the nearest KSP post or local law enforcement agency.

Kentucky State Police said Operation C.A.R.E. is intended to ensure Super Bowl celebrations end safely for everyone on the road.
