HARDIN COUNTY, Ky. (KBSI) — Hardin County officials have ordered flags to be lowered to half-staff to honor Army Sgt. Benjamin N. Pennington of Glendale, who died after being injured during an attack on U.S. forces overseas.
Hardin County Judge/Executive Keith Taul directed that U.S. flags at all county government buildings, grounds and facilities be flown at half-staff beginning 1:45 p.m. Monday, March 9, through sunset Wednesday, March 11.
The tribute honors Pennington, who died Sunday from injuries he suffered during a March 1 attack on U.S. troops at Prince Sultan Air Base in Saudi Arabia.
County leaders said the gesture recognizes Pennington’s service and sacrifice. Residents and organizations across Hardin County are encouraged to lower their flags during the same time period.
Pennington’s death marked the seventh U.S. service member killed in the escalating conflict involving Iran.
