Sikeston man arrested after traffic stop leads to gun, drug charges

SIKESTON, Mo. (KBSI) — A Sikeston man was arrested Saturday after officers recovered a firearm and suspected methamphetamine during a traffic stop, according to the Sikeston Department of Public Safety.

Officers conducted the stop around 1 p.m. March 14 near West Malone Avenue and North West Street after locating a person with an active Butler County warrant for resisting arrest.

The suspect was identified as Daron Robinson, 29, of Sikeston.

While detaining Robinson, officers found a Smith & Wesson 5.7-caliber semi-automatic handgun concealed in his waistband, along with methamphetamine, authorities said.

Under Missouri law, it is illegal to possess a firearm while in possession of a controlled substance.

Robinson faces additional charges in Scott County, including unlawful use of a weapon and possession of a controlled substance. His bond was set at $10,000 cash only.
