Two charged, one injured in Charleston shooting

CHARLESTON, Mo., (KBSI) — Two men have been charged following a shooting Wednesday in Charleston that left one person injured, according to authorities.
An officer on patrol heard gunshots around 11:50 a.m. April 1. Shortly after, dispatch received multiple calls reporting a person shot near Ironbanks and Green streets.
Officers found a 31-year-old Charleston man with a gunshot wound to the leg. Police provided first aid and applied a tourniquet before the victim was taken to a hospital for treatment.
Investigators said suspects were believed to have entered a home on West Ada Street. Officers secured the area and ordered the suspects outside. Two men surrendered and were taken into custody, while a third fled on foot but was later apprehended.
Inside the residence, officers found two infants, who were turned over to family members. Authorities also recovered two handguns, a machine gun conversion device, drugs and clothing matching the suspects.
Demarquioin Ewing, 21, of Charleston, is charged with first-degree assault, armed criminal action, unlawful use of a weapon and endangering the welfare of a child. Brandon Williamson, 20, of New Madrid, is charged with first-degree assault, armed criminal action, unlawful use of a weapon, possession of an illegal weapon, resisting arrest and endangering the welfare of a child.
Officials said Williamson was out on bond for prior charges in New Madrid County at the time of his arrest.
Both men are being held in the Mississippi County Jail without bond. A third suspect was released without charges.
The investigation remains ongoing.
