Trump reaches ceasefire deal with Iran

(KBSI) — President Donald Trump says he is proposing a temporary pause in potential military action involving Iran as part of ongoing discussions aimed at reducing tensions in the region.
Trump said the proposal would involve a two-week suspension of planned strikes, contingent on Iran agreeing to reopen the Strait of Hormuz for safe passage.
He also indicated that conversations with Pakistani leadership, including Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and military official Asim Munir, played a role in the decision.
According to Trump, the pause would allow time for negotiations toward a broader agreement focused on long-term stability in the Middle East.
He added that a proposal from Iran is currently under consideration and could serve as a foundation for further discussions.
Trump shared what he described as an official statement from Iran outlining conditions for a potential pause in hostilities.
The document, attributed to Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi, suggests Iran would halt defensive operations if attacks against the country stop.
It also references a possible two-week period allowing for safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz under certain conditions.
The statement mentions coordination with Pakistan’s leadership, including Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and military officials.
