MINER, Mo., (KBSI) — The City of Miner has been awarded the Missouri Blue Shield designation for 2026, recognizing its commitment to public safety and support for law enforcement.

City officials said the designation was announced April 1 by the Missouri Department of Public Safety. The program honors communities that invest in law enforcement and strengthen partnerships between officers and residents.

The Missouri Blue Shield Program was established in 2025 by Mike Kehoe through an executive order.

Communities must apply annually and demonstrate continued efforts to reduce crime and improve public safety.

State officials said more than 200 Missouri communities received the designation in 2025.

Communities that earn the designation may qualify for grant funding to support law enforcement training and equipment, pending approval by the Missouri General Assembly. The governor’s proposed fiscal year 2027 budget includes $10 million for the program.

Officials said Miner earned the designation due to its ongoing commitment to public safety and efforts to create a safer environment for residents.
