JEFFERSON CITY, Mo., (KBSI)— Mike Kehoe has ordered the Missouri State Capitol dome to be lit blue overnight April 10–11 in recognition of Child Abuse Prevention Month.

Officials said the lighting is intended to raise awareness about protecting children and supporting families. The color blue, represented by the pinwheel symbol, is nationally associated with child abuse prevention.

The lighting coincides with a Child Abuse Prevention Month parade and resource fair scheduled for April 11 in Jefferson City. The event will include community groups, businesses and state agencies, along with a free resource fair on the South Capitol Lawn from 10 a.m. to noon.

Additional events include a Go-Blue Wellness Walk hosted by the Missouri Children’s Trust Fund on April 22.

Officials said suspected cases of child abuse or neglect can be reported to the state’s hotline at 1-800-392-3738, which is available 24 hours a day.
