MURRAY, Ky., (KBSI) — Two people have been charged following a drug investigation at a Murray residence, according to the Calloway County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies with the agency’s narcotics division, assisted by the Marshall and McCracken County sheriff’s offices, executed a search warrant around 5:30 p.m. April 28 at a home on Robin Court.
Authorities said they found a large quantity of marijuana, THC vape devices, THC wax, digital scales, packaging materials and other items consistent with drug distribution.
Investigators also recovered two loaded firearms, including an AK-47-style pistol and a 9mm handgun.
In total, officials reported seizing about 37 pounds of marijuana, along with multiple THC products and vape cartridges.
The residence is located across the street from Westside Baptist’s Kingdom Kids School.
Officials said marijuana and THC products obtained legally for medical use are not criminal offenses, but illegal distribution poses risks to the community.
Ronald T. Lewis, 33, of Murray, was arrested and lodged in the Calloway County Detention Facility. He faces charges including trafficking in marijuana, trafficking in a controlled substance within 1,000 feet of a school and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Shantel M. Hyte, 28, of Southaven, Mississippi, was cited and released on a charge of possession of marijuana.
