SPRINGFIELD, Ill., (KBSI) — The Illinois State Police, along with the Illinois State Police Heritage Foundation, held their first annual Memorial Park Ceremony to honor officers who died in the line of duty.
The ceremony took place at the ISP Memorial Park, which was completed in 2018 and features a wall inscribed with the names of officers who lost their lives while serving.
Officials said the event is intended to recognize the sacrifice and service of fallen officers and to ensure their legacy is remembered.
This year’s ceremony honored several officers, including Trooper Lory Lee Price, who died in 1927; Corporal George D. Craggs, who died in 1976; and Senior Master Trooper Todd Anthony Hanneken, who died in 2021.
State police officials said the ceremony will be held annually to continue honoring the memory and service of those who made the ultimate sacrifice.
