STEELE, Mo. (KBSI) — A vehicle pursuit that began in Steele and continued into Arkansas ended with the arrest of a southeast Missouri man Wednesday, May 27, according to the Steele Police Department.

Police Chief Billy Joe Stanfield says Capt. John Trimm attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a vehicle driven by 36-year-old Judon Mayberry of Steele. Authorities say Trimm was aware Mayberry had active felony warrants for his arrest.

According to police, Mayberry refused to stop and led officers on a pursuit into Arkansas before returning to Steele, where the chase ended without further incident.

Investigators say officers discovered three juveniles inside the vehicle following the pursuit.

Police say Mayberry was taken into custody on warrants for enticement of a child, first-degree child molestation, first-degree robbery, unlawful use of a weapon by exhibiting and stealing.

Additional charges, including resisting arrest by fleeing, driving while revoked and three counts of endangering the welfare of a child, are expected to be forwarded to the Pemiscot County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for review.

The Steele Police Department says the Pemiscot County Sheriff’s Office, Mississippi County Sheriff’s Office in Arkansas and the Blytheville Police Department assisted during the incident.
