PADUCAH, Ky. (KBSI) — An 18-year-old Paducah man is facing multiple charges after police say a gunshot fired from an apartment entered a neighboring unit Wednesday night.
According to the Paducah Police Department, officers responded around 7:11 p.m. Wednesday, May 27, to an apartment complex in the 2600 block of Perkins Creek Drive after a resident reported hearing a gunshot.
Investigators say the resident later discovered a bullet had traveled through the apartment and lodged in an interior wall while the resident was inside the room.
Police say officers determined the shot came from a nearby apartment occupied by Darius Benjamin.
While securing the apartment, officers reported seeing marijuana and drug paraphernalia in plain view. Authorities later obtained and executed a search warrant at the residence.
According to police, officers located two rifles hidden inside the apartment, including an AR-15-style rifle and an AK-47-style rifle, along with ammunition.
Benjamin was arrested and booked into the McCracken County Jail on charges of first-degree wanton endangerment, tampering with physical evidence, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
