Perryville lifestyle content creator says social media career helps family buy dream home

PERRYVILLE, Mo. (KBSI) — What began as posting videos during the COVID-19 pandemic has grown into a full-time career for Perryville content creator Lauren B. Webb.
Today, Webb shares content focused on motherhood, faith, fashion and home life across TikTok, Facebook and Instagram. Combined, her social media platforms have grown to more than 300,000 followers.
However, Webb said her success did not happen overnight.
After downloading TikTok in 2020, she began creating videos casually before deciding to take content creation more seriously. She later expanded to Facebook and Instagram and has posted consistently across all three platforms.
“I started on TikTok just making silly, funny videos, and one day I was like, I’m going to take this seriously,” Webb said. “And it’s been that way ever since.”
Webb said one of the biggest misconceptions about content creation is that success comes quickly. Instead, she said her audience has grown steadily through years of daily posting and engagement.
“Honestly, it’s been very, very slow,” Webb said. “I’ve never had viral moments where you just gain a lot of followers off one video. It’s just been years of building.”
At the same time, Webb balances content creation with being a stay-at-home mom. She said both roles are often misunderstood, with many people not realizing the amount of work that goes into either one.
“They think it’s easy. It is actually the complete opposite,” Webb said. “It is so hard.”
As her audience grew, Webb began working with brands and earning commissions through partnerships. Rather than spending that income, she said she made a point to save it.
Over time, those earnings helped her family purchase what she calls their dream home.
“As a creator, I do reach out to brands, and then I end up getting a partnership with them,” Webb said. “Every commission that I’ve ever made on social media, that’s what essentially helped me get this house.”
Even with her growing following, Webb said she still sees herself the same way she always has.
“I’ll always think that I’m just a small, small-town girl, you know, stay-at-home mom,” Webb said.
She also credits faith and persistence for helping her reach goals she once thought were out of reach.
“I prayed for all of this to happen, but truthfully, I just told myself, ‘What do you have to lose?'” Webb said.
Now, Webb hopes her story encourages others who may be interested in creating content themselves. She said social media can provide opportunities to connect with others, express creativity and even create new career paths.
“I always tell everybody to go for it,” Webb said. “I don’t care who you are or what you do. I think it’s fun. It’s a gateway to express yourself.”
While Webb acknowledges content creation is not as easy as it may appear online, she believes the opportunities can be worth the effort.
“Never judge a book by its cover,” Webb said. “It is harder than it looks. But I did this.”
