Former McCracken County school resource officer charged with official misconduct

PADUCAH, Ky., (KBSI) — A former McCracken County High School resource officer has been charged with multiple misdemeanor offenses following an investigation by Kentucky State Police.

According to KSP Post 1, the investigation began May 11 after school administrators reported allegations of inappropriate conduct involving School Resource Officer Darrin Frommeyer.

Investigators said a student reported that Frommeyer accessed her cellphone without permission and took “selfie” photos of himself on the device on two separate occasions. The student also reported that Frommeyer contacted her multiple times through TikTok and interacted with her Instagram account.

At the time of the alleged incidents, Frommeyer was employed by the McCracken County School System as a school resource officer.

State police said Frommeyer communicated with the student outside the district’s designated traceable communication system on at least three occasions, which investigators said violated Kentucky law governing communications between school employees and students.

Because Frommeyer was serving as a public official at the time, investigators said the alleged violations resulted in charges of second-degree official misconduct.

Frommeyer, 58, of Paducah, has been charged with three counts of second-degree official misconduct and two counts of fourth-degree unlawful access to a computer.

He has since resigned from his position with the McCracken County School System.

The investigation remains ongoing and is being led by KSP Detective Sgt. Brian Hill.
