Dry Conditions Return for the End of the Weekend
An isolated severe storm or two still remains a possibility for the remainder of Saturday evening. Yesterday’s storms seem to have taken a lot out of the atmosphere, though a Marginal Risk (Level 1 out of 5) of severe weather remains in place. An isolated tornado, large hail, damaging winds and torrential rainfall are still possible if any storm can get going on Saturday evening.
Storm coverage has been fairly sporadic so far on Saturday; the latest runs of StormCast follow that trend for the rest of the evening.
A Flood Watch remains in effect until 1 a.m. CDT on Sunday, July 12. Depending on how long storms can last into Saturday evening, a couple of inches of precipitation remain possible.
Temperatures will once again be seasonal for the start of the day on Sunday. Lows will fall to the upper 60s and lower 70s across the viewing area.
Storm chances will likely wrap up before midnight in the Cape Girardeau area before we see partly cloudy skies for the remainder of the overnight hours.
Highs on Sunday will be a couple of degrees cooler, though the humidity will make it hard to notice as heat indices will likely return to the upper 80s and lower 90s.
After several days of heavy rainfall and severe weather, sunny skies will be a relief for us in Cape to close out the weekend.
While we are not completely cleared of storm chances, the forecast favors a couple of quiet days ahead for Sunday and Monday. Storm chances return Tuesday and into Wednesday, with a warm-up still expected in the latter portions of the workweek.
