2 found dead after house fire in Kennett

KENNETT, Mo. (KBSI) – Two people were found dead after firefighters responded to a house fire early Friday morning in Kennett.

A 911 call at 4:14 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 13, reported a fire at 1107 Masterson Street, Kennett, Mo.

When Kennett Fire Department personnel arrived they found heavy smoke and flames at the front of the single story brick home.

Firefighters began firefighting operations.

A neighbor told firefighters he/she believed two people were inside the home.

Firefighters found the two victims dead inside the heavily damaged home.

No smoke alarms were found inside the home.

The Kennett Fire Department, Kennett Police Department and the Missouri Division of Fire Safety investigated.

The fire originated in the attic area over the living room and was sparked by an electrical system failure or malfunction, according to the Missouri State Fire Marshal.

The fire has been classified as accidental.
