14-year-old runaway from Sikeston arrested in Dyersburg, TN after suspicious person call

DYERSBURG, Tenn. (KBSI) – A 14-year-old runaway from Sikeston, Mo. faces charges after police in Dyersburg, Tenn, responded to a call of a suspicious person trying to enter a garage of a home.

On Dec. 23 about 3:15 p.m. Dyersburg police responded to Upper Finely Road in reference to a suspicious person wearing all black attempting to enter a garage at a house.

Officers saw a young male run from the scene and chased him on foot where he was aarrested near Caleb Drive.

The teen was found to be a 14-year-old run away from Sikeston, Mo., according to police.

Officers found the teen to be in possession of a .40 caliber handgun with an extended magazine, suspected marijuana, and a purse containing a correctional officer’s badge, according to the Dyersburg Police Department.

He faces charges of unlawful possession of a weapon, simple possession of marijuana, and evading arrest.

He was taken to West Tennessee Healthcare for a medical evaluation and later to detention pending Dyer County Juvenile Court action.
