2 face charges after 2 injured in shooting in Paducah

PADUCAH, Ky. (KBSI) – Two Paducah men face charges after two people were injured in a shooting in Paducah on Wednesday afternoon.

Carl R. Penn, 18, of Paducah faces charges of first degree assault, first-degree wanton endangerment and first-degree criminal mischief.

Cameron J. Belt, 18, of Paducah faces a charge of trafficking marijuana (less than 8 oz), 1st offense.

Paducah Police responded to Mercy Health for the report of two people who had been shot just before 4 p.m.

Officers determined the shooting occurred in the 2200 block of Center Street.

The victims, a 16-year-old male and a 17-year-old female, were involved in a drug deal with Penn and Belt, according to the Paducah Police Department.

As the victims drove away from the drug deal, police say Penn fired multiple shots at the vehicle striking one victim in the hand, while another shot grazed the second victim’s head.

Both victims were treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

Penn and Belt were arrested by detectives.

Detectives also recovered a handgun believed to be used in the shooting.

Both suspects were taken to the McCracken County Jail.
