2 face firearms charge in Carbondale after search of property

CARBONDALE, Ill. (KBSI) – Two Carbondale men were arrested and face weapons charges as part of an ongoing investigation into illegal firearms.

Jakobi N. Shered, 19, and Chonta T. Stidhum, 20, both of Carbondale each face a charge of unlawful possession of a firearm.

Detectives obtained a search warrant for a property associated with the men in the 300 block of South Oakland Avenue.

During the execution of the search warrant on Friday, April 28, officers and detectives found and arrested Shered and Stidhum on the warrants.

They also recovered firearms from the home.

Shered and Stidhum were taken to the Jackson County Jail.

The investigation is active and ongoing.
