Cape Career and Technology Center host mock interviews for students
CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KBSI) – On Thursday, the Cape Career and Technology Center hosted mock interviews with area businesses to better prepare students for the career life.
Cara Dirnberger is an instructor with the CTC, and she emphasizes the need for students to practice the art of interviewing. “It’s crucial to host these mock interview events, not only do students get practice but it’s also beneficial to our industry partners who are wanting our students to come work with them after graduation. We have several students who are banking on this mock interview to land a job ”
More than twenty businesses were in attendance helping with the event.
Each business personnel interviewed with four to five students for twenty minutes, each student prepared a resume and seniors had a career portfolio.
Director Brock Crowley says some of the students have never sat in front of someone for the interview process, with this being their first time.
“Being prepared, we not only do interviews in person, which is very vital to hopefully their success in the real near future because they’re going to be doing interviews soon,” said Crowley.
Last year, Dirnberger said that more than four hundred interviews were conducted and nearly thirty students were hired for a job.
